To me the top hats and brass goggles look tacky. In the meantime how big a market is there for steampunk art ? If the market is good I'll gather some old springs, gears, and dials together and my soldering torch and start producing my masterpieces. I could probably crank our several a week by myself.

What you're saying is FACT, but as the man said in the video, Steampunk is science-FICTION!!! So whatever they want to include they can, and since they didn't include slavery, slavery does not exist in Steampunk.

But I think you should go read up on the Victorian Age (1837-1901) and remember that slavery in Europe was made illegal from 1792 (Denmark) to 1848 France, UK made it illegal in 1833 (before the crowning of Victoria). However laws were consolidated in 1848 to include the colonies (not US since they had broken free). So NO Steampunk is not about slavery, except maybe in your fantasy.

Drag your ignorant ass to the library and open up a history book on the Victorian age or read some Victorian literature. You would know that these Victorian novelists wrote about economic and social injustice. The Steampunk culture is a hybrid of this RACIST Victorian age mixed with sci-fi.
